Where's the best place to get an injection pump rebuilt?
I was just wondering because my injection pump is tired and needs replaced. The lowest price i can find around here (midwest) is $750 for a reman from midwest diesel in Palantine IL. Any opinions and prices would be helpful. Thanks, onetwopunch
Northeast Diesel Service in Jacson MO. I've had guys ask me to inquire, and they WILL ship stuff out. They will also do the throttle shaft upgrade, along with installing new springs, though you have to request the latter. It was $450 for the pump I had done there; $500 and some change to do Mom's.
I also had a guy in NE named Bryan Banghart do a real good job on my last one. I dont know what he charges outright since I traded him some parts, but I am happy with the work he did.

If it were me, I'd go with Scheid Diesel www.scheiddiesel.com, Terre Haute, IN, Lafayette, IN and Effingham, IL. Get what you pay for.
The price you put in your post seems about average for a fresh rebuilt unit. At that time they can upgrade with better internals for the low grade diesel. Hopefully your injector housing is still in rebuildable or core shape. Mine had some severe wear marks in it, but it was still going, barely. Luckily, they had a spare up in their storage/boneyard and sold me it for $100.00 plus the cost to rebuild, $800. They said that a new housing alone was $600.00 thru Bosch.
Heres some photos for reference of the internal wear. Some wear inside is ok. The two little ovals in there that look like "Tic Tac breath mints" are normal. The almost perfect looking machined looking Tic Tac depression, was extremely bad. There were also broken springs and worn rollers in mine. The rebuilder in the pump shop said it was the worst internal wear they had seen, and still running, without grenading. And yes I always used Power Service or Stanadyne or Marvel Mystery oil for lubricant in the fuel at each fill up. It just started losing power badly and greyish blue smoke out the exhaust.
