Thats about it in a nutshell.
I got some numbers off the tag on the gear case but not sure if thats right.
My local Cummins dealer does not seem very willing to help unless I have a serial num. thanks

 

That is where the serial number is located. Just in front of the ip on the side edge of the timing case pointing toward the battery.I have the same problem with my local cummins dealer aswell. However my motor is missing the serial number for some reason.

 

There are so many things in that engine plate and it's hard to find the engine number the first time you stare at it. Mine is there somewhere in the middle.

 

In this first picture, the tag with red on it is the tag you will be looking at.



And here's a close up of that tag. The ESN (Engine Serial Number) is in the upper right corner.
