I'm not dead set on stacks. What I'd really like to do is put a turnout through my hood, but I haven't come up with a way to do that and maintain easy engine access....

Easy! You just need tp devise a way to disconnect the pipe just below the level of the hood. Then all you would need is the one hole. Maybe a twist off or sometype of locking pins. Then when you need under the hood just remove the pipe and lift the hood. Or run you exhaust to the rear edge of the hood, notch the hood, and rehindge to lift forward(similar to a corvette). I've been thinking about this too.

I'm thinking a twist wedge lock would work pretty well. I know it might be crazy loud in the cab, but I have always liked the through the hood look. I think a fatty coming out of there would really give an outlaw vibe to a 1st genner.
On the other hand, I don't want to screw up the truck and make it uncomfortable to drive, as in smoke through the windows and soot splatter all over the truck. I tend toward non-conformity (I run a straight pipe after all!) and wouldn't hesitate to do something radical as long as I can live with it!

I doubt the local law would live with it. Though most exhaust laws are loosely enforced at best, they seem to take the ''must exit behind passenger compartment'' pretty seroiusly.

Yeah, it's a bummer. I hate having to use my side mirror to watch how much throttle my turbo can keep clean--be nice to just look ahead--add pedal till you see smoke...then add more pedal!

IMO it's your call. View the members' pics and see what YOU like the best!!! I prefer my bull horns on my dually.

Dont be like everyone else, go with a single 5 inch turnout!
