Valve train not oiling?????????
Hey guys, i just did a head gasket on my truck. I fixed the problem of oil in the radiator and coolant in the oil. Now i have another problem, I'm not getting oil thru my valve train. Number one cylinder is the only rocker assembly that is consistently oiling. Number 2 and 6 cylinder are sporadic, sometimes they oil the exhaust rocker and sometimes they oil the intake side! Number 3, 4 and 5 don't push enough oil to do any good. It seems to be a pressure problem, but i'm getting 60 psi with a mechanical guage on the oil filter 1/8 port. Called cummins tech line and they said to tap into the left side of block to verify the oil rifling that feeds the head is also getting pressure. It is also at 60 psi. Now i did have a friend crank the engine with the fuel disconected and oil comes gushing out of the bolt holes with the rocker assembly removed. I have disassembled all the rockers and cleaned the ports out with air and carb cleaner, none of them were plugged!
I've been messing with them for a week and I am Stumped! Any ideas?

Oh yeah, someone said that when i pull the rocker bolts, i would have to suck the oil out of the holes before reinstalling the pedistal bolts. This is not a problem , becaause the oil does not remain in the bolt holes. The oil drains back down the hole and thru the rifling when you stop cranking on the engine. I'm gonna replace the check (bypass valve) the one that is in the back of the oil filter housing, because i am out of options!!!!!!!!

Or you're using the wrong bolts.
By some miracle??????
I pulled al the rockers and took them apart, blew down the bolt holes till i saw oil and air come out of the side of the block(oil cooler removed) put it all back together and i have oil to al the rockers now. It not a lot of oil, but i checked my 91 truck and it flows the same as the ones on the 97 are doing now. I never saw any debries come out.
