These rubber seals go on the bolt, tapered side down (against the bottom of the valve-cover, bolt pocket).

Pockets in valve-cover.

Not under the valve-cover.

Perhaps these are the thick ones y'all are getting?
Hope this helps.

well that isn't the style of valve cover on our trucks, but let's pretend that we're looking at the underside of our individual valve covers, what i've circled in red is where these thick black rubber washers/bushings/seals sit.

Thanks for passing that info on Justin.

My plan was to keep running them until I had a problem, or adjusted the valves again. But, until I found an updated part number, TSB, etc., I thought I better walk back from my recommendation. If I have trouble with them, I'll post about it.

Hey, Alec, just piggy backing on your reply- when I just did my injectors I first pulled off all my valve covers for the sake of wrench room, and I see how these genos new style bushing/washers seal up- they left an imprint above the port that the bolt attaches to. They sandwhich tightly between that ledge and the underside of the valve cover when you torque down that 18 lbs./foot. I actually go 22 lbs./foot. Anyway, all bushings looked good, but also that's only with around 300 miles on them. I believe we'll be ok leaving them as is

I use these on the underside of stock valve covers, as well on the top side of the dual breather cover.

They are the correct seal for both applications, and the o-ring is correct for the top also.

Thanks, and glad your comment kinda put this question to rest. Now all know.

Now that I found out about those bushing seals, I'll never go back to those O-ring, under the bolt head, seals. They stretch, distort, cut, etc. Those bushing ones, bathed in oil for hundreds of miles, still remain firm, and can be used over and over.

I have a 48 Ford F1 with a 4BT. The motor came out of a paving roller so it is Industrial. It has the pocket/depressions with the large grommets as shown. Covers are leaking so I just picked up the blue silicone gaskets with new grommets.
