using a toogle switch to see if o/d still works help

my O/D stoped working i seen in a couple posts you find the blue and white wires at the back of the tranny run a ground to see if you can get the o/d to work i was wondering if i could get some detailed info on how to do this any info would help also if this works could i just keep the toogle to switch into o/d

The blue wire is power, the other wire (usually orange I think) gets grounded by the PCM when it thinks OD should be engaged.

What you want to do is splice into that ground wire so you can ground the OD solenoid yourself. An easy way to do it is to strip about an inch of insulation off the end of a piece of wire and clip off all but about 3 or 4 strands. Stuff that thin wire up into the OD solenoid plug and plug it back in. Then run your new wire to a switch, and run a wire from your switch to a good ground.

It won't hurt anything to run a toggle switch indefinitely, but it's kind of a pain in the butt.

when im under the truck were is the od solenoid plug is it the plug that plugs into the vss because those two wires are dark blue and white

No, it's on the trans case. You want the plug with only 2 wires.

I thought the the vss is what bolts to the side of the transfercase on the driver side anyway can you explain because im confused .I found a darkblue wire and orange that go into the driver side on the transfercase but it plugs into the the thing im calling a vss so do the two wires that im looking for are they on the transfer case or on the transmission im sorry i sound stupid its frustrating not having o/d the tranny shifts awesome maybe you can explain one more time to me you have know idea how much i appreciate this

you need to find the plug on the transmition, not the transfercase. i've been running my truck with an o/d switch since i bought it, i wouldn't know any other way.

so in front of the trans pan but the plug goes in to the trans ?

No, it's towards the front on the driver's side up above the pan. The plug is pointed straight down like Jet100 said.

I found out the problem the plug the blue wire was broke in two. i originaly couldnt find the plug because there was so much road grim appreciate all the help wouldnt of figured out that problem with out the help of the guys that responded thank again shifts into o/d perfect
