Unhappy TV Cable Headache

Searching and searching sadly has not helped me today. The TV cable on my 92 keeps popping off of the ball mounted on the little arm of the transmission. Apparently though the end looks like there is nothing wrong, it pops right off after a few miles of driving. I would buy a new cable...... if new ones existed....

So i'm stuck and looking for some ideas so the truck isnt in third gear seemingly instantly like it is when the cable pops off and thats where I pick the creative minds on this site. Any input is appreciated.

Mike

Well don't drive it all without that cable or the cable not working right or you'll burn up the trans. The cable doesn't just control shift points it controls pressures.

Surely someone parting out a truck has a cable, like "Mark Nixon" or oliver foster

Mike,

I don't have a picture of it, but I had a similar problem a while back and with the HP/TQ I was running having the cable pop off like that would be a death sentence to the trans. I took the lever off and made a little sheet metal "Z" to go on top of the end of the cable to hold it down, drilled and tapped for two number 8 or 10 machine screws to hold it in place. Have had zero problems with that since.
