Transmission help, Experts like Dave and txs needed

Ok, I blew my tranny up.

You guys were right. I tore it apart and heard some metal clinking around.

So I am going rebuilding my 727 and was wondering a couple things...

1) The reason I am doing it is because I do not have a lot of money and also cuz I broke the front oil pump. The 2 lugs were completely shaved off and both were found in the oil galleys where the pump is housed, has 3 ***** peened into the top. Now, the shaft on which it was on seems to be chewed slightly, was there any slots to begin with? I can get some pics. The chewing looks like some took some course sandpaper to it.

2) What rebuild kits am I going to need to complete this? I was thinking:

From http://www.transmissioncenter.net/727transmission.htm

~ The #K10 combo kit, first one listed after the 727 Viper tranny, for $189

~ The #6PG replacement pump for $15

~ The #9 FSM for Dodge/Chrysler Transmissions for $28

Total: $232 minus tax or shipping....

So between the rebuild kits and pump, minus the shaft I might need.....

What are your suggestions?

Jon

So I just did some more checking....

Looks like there needs to be slots to push against the rotor assembly.... My shaft does have slots or tabs but when looking at it, there seems to be no metal chewed away from the shaft where the slots/tabs should be....

HELP!

Be sure to check the rest of the pump, if it is damaged to the point that you need the new pump "gears" the housing might be shot too. As TXS said, the shaft has no lugs, the TC interlocks with the pump, and it can be tempramental. You need to put the TC into the tranny while it is easy to get to and you can "feel" it drop all the way into the gear. Did you rebuild the first VB? are you sure you have all the valves in correctly? If they are not in all the way or are in the wrong place you can have pressure issues.
