All the post you see at 1:45 are about 3-4 feet tall, if you notice they dissapear under the snow.

Will be installing 255/85/16s Toyo Open Country M/Ts tomorrow.
Looking for good winter on and off road traction, good tire mileage and maybe a few less rpms going down the highway.

Only thing that sucks is Toyo M/T's wear pretty fast and are pretty noisey. my buddy has a set.

Those Kumos look really good for thin layers of snow and ice but I also need something to plow through a couple feet of snow if needed.
I have them mounted on a second set of rims but am going to get the center of the tread siped tomorrow to help with ice traction.
M/Ts will have a harder rubber compound than winter only tires.
I may have to remove the running boards to fit these on the front.
They are almost a full 2" taller than what I have now.
Should drop 125 rpm at 75 mph.

My 92 has the summer A/T tires on it all winter. I back it in the barn before the first hint of salt hits the pavement. I keep her in all winter dry and free from winter road slop. Take it out mid April.
I'm runnin 235/86-16 Goodyear Duratracs on one of my work trucks. Pretty impressed with them so far in snow and on icy roads. I've only got about 5k miles on them, so can't say much on wear yet.
That's not an old Dodge in the pic!
I did look into the Duratracs too as they had good reviews, just not available in the taller skinny size.
Got mine siped today at Discount Tire for $13 each. Only had the centers done. Maybe not the best sipe job but, will see how it works.
Might try to wait another week before I put them on the truck.

I did a long hard internet search for winter tires for my 20" rims and bought Hankook iPike: 275/65 R20. They work very well and can be studded. And for only $35 a tire, I should have had it done when I had the chance. I didn't know that once you drive them, you can't stud them.
Regardless, they work awesome - much better than the Toyo MT's I had (which in all fairness, isn't a winter tire).

Finally put these on the truck.
Don't do what I did!
With 19/32s of tread and siping done, these feel almost dangerous pulling a trailer above 60 mph.
Truck sways back and forth easily. Lots of "tread squirm" it feels like.
I wish now I would have tried them out before siping to see if most of the sway is from going back to an 85 series tire.
It is kinda funny to stomp on it in 3rd or 4th and look back to see two black marks in the road.
For reference, the last time this truck had new tires was in 1992. I always run used tires for a lot less money than these.
Bought a set of used BFGs for $75 and ran them for 2 1/2 years.
Before that were $75 Michelins I ran for 3 years.
