Hmm, this is sounding like a very worth while upgrade, especially since I'm in the market for a new steering box anyway.

I see you're in MD. Call Terry AKA Mysteryman 3019335277 - he might have all the parts lying around!!? He can also talk your ear off about the Dodges as well..

The steering box & bracket that I used was from a 76 W-100.
The part numbers and interchange according to Hollander are:

Steering box part number 4031921
Mounting bracket has the number 3496357 <=(from my notes)=

The Hollander interchange range listed is:
Dodge Truck 1975-77 W100; W200; W300
Ramcharger & Trailduster 1974-77 with 4WD

This box was also a popular retrofit into the Dodge military M37's to add power steering.

The spline size is different on this box. The Flaming River shaft with the two u-joints for a 92 Dodge did NOT fit the splines on this model box.

Also note, it MAY be possible to avoid having a custom hose made by simply using the older style threaded fitting that threads into the power steering pump pressure port. This in theory should permit you to use a hose with both ends that match, such as from a 75 W100 w/318 engine? I haven't gotten this far yet to confirm this.

Please take photographs and document the installation if you decide to go this route.

So the steering gear does not bolt directly to the frame but requires a mounting bracket? Any clue on part numbers for the pitman arm and drag link?

Ideas for dealing with this problem?

Are the threads on our PS pumps not metric?

Same as the steering box application for a W200.

You buy the shaft to the double d coupler to fit the splines. I believe the box end spline coupler that I used was for a GM application. On the pre-92's maybe a Borgeson style flanged shaft with a GM splined coupler. You need to measure the spline outside diameter and count the splines BEFORE you order one.

I don't know. I never had a reason to check but the mounting studs IIRC are 3/8" x 16 threads.

So a pitman arm and draglink from a 1976 W200 should fit without modification?

That's what I used when I assembled mine using the 1976 steering box.

And you're using the reverse rotation gear from the mid-1970s or the gear that's listed to fit a First Gen? If the former, which of the two reverse rotation gears listed on the website are you utilizing?
