starter wire question

The stater wire that sends power to the solenoid its not supposed to have continuity with ground correct? im trying to fix all these issues with my truck with no luck at all and start the truck to move it to the garage and shut it off. well go to start it back up nothing.
does this mean contacts are bad or brushes? or is it supposed to be like this?

so buy these and put em in and it will be back to normal?

If the wire is still connected to the starter, it will show cont to ground. If you have cont to ground on the wire with it disconnected from the starter, you have a short between the start relay and starter.

Correct in a way. It would actually be showing the resistance of the solenoid coil which on the other end would be grounded.
