If you think you'll like the way the truck looks, do it and don't worry about what anyone else thinks - it's YOUR truck.

I like turnouts on 1st gens provided they are angled back at 45 degrees.

The smoke box will not fit under the bed.

So is it that this does what exactly? Wouldn't it restrict flow?

the smoke box is the piece of tubing that the stacks are clamped to, and the exhaust flows into it thru one hole in the bottom, I don't really know how restrictive it is though

its a peice of 4x6 inch square tubing. someone did the math and its the equiveltent of like a 6 or 7 inch round pipe. So i dont reckon its very restrictive

So does it do anything other than hold the stacks? Or is it just cheaper than a bent y-pipe? So say 4" into the bottom and then 5"+ stacks??

Sorry I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I think you should go for the stacks. They look awesome.

well it serves two purposes. yes it holds the stacks, but the tube is hollow with boxed ends. the stacks are in the pipe about 1/2 inch and welded solid. the box is 4x6 so the 5" stack is welded to the 6" side of the pipe.

And yes, its much cheaper

I love the look of stacks, esp. matte black stacks ala CAT Heavy Equipment

That's what I did on my truck. I have a single 4" stack which I then cut and welded a 45 degree angle on top of for the turnout just like heavy equipment I then painted it flat black. It's got that sleeper "I have a stack because I need it not because I want to show off look". I like other stacks too don't get me wrong, I just like the less obvious look and as a bonus it was cheap doing my own welding!!

I think stacks would look awesome. However, like wannadiesel said, it is your truck, so do what you want. Would like to see some pictures after you get it done if you decide to.
