So as most first gens my speedometer and odometer went out bout 6 months ago. I have a gps system that keeps me around the right speed but does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix the stock odometer and speedometer

If the speedo isn't working then the odometer will not work either. I would start by checking the vss on the trans.

 

If the odometer is not working but the speedo is, I believe that means those 2 plastic and expensive internal gears need replacing, correct?
