The results of today...

Well, I haven't started the truck yet, but everything is ready. I had some questions, which will follow after the results. Now for the results:

1. 3200 spring installed
2. Large chunk of my hand missing from trying to get my stuck full fuel screw to move (i gave up).
3. AFC lever ground partially
4. Timing at 1/8
5. Blood

Now for the questions.

1. How do you stop runaway (just in case) can you just use the manual shutdown or do you have to block the turbo inlet?
2. How the heck did Den do the install mentioned above by himself?

I will be back after driving it for my opinion of the mods.

AFC lever only partially ground??? Were ya scared ?? On the fuel screw all ya need is move the throttle rod out of the way, then a 13mm wrench and 6mm wrench, easy as pie, can be done with the truck running.
?'s: 1: Before you start it, remove the turbo intake hose. Have a piece of 2x6 or flat metal big enough to cover up the 4" hole/turbo air inlet plus have enough room to get your two hands on it and not worry about getting your fingers sucked into the turbo, then more blood.. With some runaways, the shutdown lever and or shutoff solenoid wire will not shut off the engine. Only way is to shut off the air to the engine.
2: Den is talented.

Thanks for the quick reply. As for the AFC lever... its my dad's truck (ive tried to buy it, but Im only 15 and he doesnt want me to yet). He was fine with the idea of grinding the lever, until my brother, who is studying to become a mechanical engineer, said "there is a reason its there; dont let him grind it" (thats what he says to all of the mods i want to do). Then he said I could only grind half of it. I have the fuel screw in 1.5 turns already, but it will not budge at all now.I have the lock collar off it, and the threads look good, it just wont turn. One other question: Does it matter how the overflow valve goes in? Does it need any sealant or anything? I took it off once and now i think it leaks. Thanks again.

Did you clean the bad threads away when you removed the lock collar

You probably lost one of the crush washers. There should be a crush washer on each side of the return line, the overflow valve is like a big banjo bolt.

I still have both washers. I had to adjust the idle tonight anyway, and since I dont have a 10mm wrench that I want to bend, I had to go in from the back with a deep-well 10mm socket. I took the overflow valve off in order to get to the nut, so I will check again next time I run it to see if it leaks. As for the fuel screw, the threads look fine.
