Rear Drum To Disc Brake Conversion

Of the 2 kits I've read about TSSM and EGR Brakes both say their kits will not fit\work with DRW stock wheels. You will need larger rims to fit the inside rim\tire over the caliper.
Contact the company you purchased the kit from and see which rim size they recommend for your DRW application.

I would like to bring this thread back to life.......Its been three years since the last post, has any one tried to use a late model axle under a 1st gen truck? this is what I am thinking of doing. I have a 1990 d350 that I would like to put a 2008 axle that I purchased under it. what are your thoughts? is there anything that I should look out for when doing this?

Mostly flange to flange width the newer axles tend to be wider. I suppose using the newer wheels would narrow it up some. Just do a bunch of measuring and when you think it will work do it again to be sure.

im working on later dana 80 dual piston rears with internal e-brake shoes, a deeper dish drum, modded to the d70, '01 backing plates/caliper brackets being adapted to '90. interference between stud mounts one problem, im making a spacer/adapter to stud outward to axle, from spacer, and outward to caliper bracket/backing plate, from spacer. its setup to be cnc plasma cut this week. my lonely mill, will get busy soon after.

Remember our first gen dually trucks use a 5/8 wheel stud which also makes the rim specific to them. If you change the rears and leave the fronts the same, now you need two spare tires.
