Question About POD's and Washer Thickness...
I have a set of POD's for my 89 and have the 7mm-9mm... Well in all my reading eveyone says to use the .020 washers to clean up the injectors some and get the spray pattern closer to the bowl. Is this a performance issue or just a smoke issue? The reason I ask is that for 1.25 a piece I'm wondering if it is worth my time to have the bushing milled down to .020"

When they say .020 they mean to use the thick copper washers that came with them (if you bought them new). When I got mine there were 4 different sizes 2 of them were the same thickness and then there were 2 other thicknesses I measured them with a set of calipers and installed the .020. I have a slight haze when it's cold and then it seems to go away. When you say having the bushings milled what bushings are you talking about.

Yes if the adaptors can be milled down and remain intact, I'd say go for it. You got a sloppering injector and need all the help you can get for idle haze and overall performance. The adaptor is like .090" right?

Sorry I didn't realize about the bushing. I changed over to the 7mm head due to catastrophic failure.

Yeah the adaptors are like .090... How much will it effect the performance?
For less than 10 bucks, do it. What kind of turn around time is it gonna be? Oldcool90 was gonna try to turn them down at work but I bought the POD's back from him to use in my crew before he got the chance. In my crew they are nastier at idle than my Scheid 6x16 edm's and Buddha 6x18 edm's. Could be the massive .090 adaptors vs. the .020 and .040 washers used in the other trucks. |
I think I'm going to run them as is right now and get a second set of adaptors to mill down so that I can get a good comparison.

Anyone have a source for the .020" washers?
