Procomp Fuel Pump

I just got my Procomp 140gph 14psi pump today and it had no instructions. I already got my block off plate and plan on removing the lift pump. What all do I need to hook this thing up. I'm assuming just splice it into the fuel line but can I just put this on my fender and does the positive wire need to be on a switched circuit (I assume it does)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Closer to the tank the better on mounting the pump. Yes put it on a relay, I used the blue FSS wire going to the pump to switch my relay on. I would suggest running all new line from the pick up to the filter to the procomp to the fuel filter then you can leave it stock from the factory filter to the IP.
Most guys get rid of the factory filter set up and get an aftermarket filter head and filter, myself included.

Thanks for the replies Ill climb under there after work tomorrow and figure out the length and line I will need. What kind of setup to bypass the stock filter? Mine leaks bad so I was thinking of upgrading anyway and it seems like I have read about tractor parts working for a new filter setup is this true? If so I would like to get all the parts and install it all this weekend.

That would be a good place to start. I got mine from a cummins dealer ship. Mine is for a Fleet Gard 1000 filter. But different filters can go on with lower and higher micron ratings. If my old mind is working properly tonight it was 24.99 for the filter housing. But takes JIC fittings. Others may take NPT fittings. Just beware of fitting style before you start taking your truck apart to find out you don't have the right fitting. When resurching the filter head on the net it said it was NPT. I later found out it was JIC. I was , but hey what can you do. No matter how much you cuss and yell at a part it just sits there looking back at you............

Cool thanks for the info I found a few of the Fleetguard filter heads on google now I just need to find out if someone has one local before I order one. Looks like I'm gonna be busy getting parts before I get this thing installed. Just have to look forward to next weekend now. "No matter how much you cuss and yell at a part it just sits there looking back at you............" That is one of the truest statements I have ever heard. I get this problem every now and then to.
