power sources?

Where are the "power sources" for our trucks? I understand the battery and eventually the alternator, but what else is there in the system? In recent posts ive discussed my issues with my radio/abs, and im to the point where i believe i may need to start replacing the other electrical components. Ive replaced switches and have yet to find an issue with a fuse. Are there any capacitors or anything else in the system? What do the fuseable links power?

Or buy the service manual CD at Geno's Garage. Schematics are in it.

Some sleepers in the system are:
Weak headlight switch
18 g wire in tail light circuits
Weak Ignition Switch, with large loads on it.
Weak heater switch
Thin and long headlight wiring
Duck foot fusible links near battery.

Don't forget, grounds are every bit as important as current carrying wires to complete a circuit.
