power adjustment screw stopping?

I just bought a 1992 w250 and went to turn the pump up and everything was finre until I tryed turning up the power screw it went in about 3/4 of a turn and stopped? this is my third first gen and the other two I had no problems with turning in a couple turns, my 89 I had in around 3 turns and my other 92 about 1 1/2 turns. so I am just wondering why it is not going in any farther

The truck overall has more power but just a slight haze when you step on it. also the end of the afc and the end of the power screw had crap on them.

any thoughts?

thanks

Is the crimped stop still on the screw? If its not, the threads where it was attached could be boogered up enough to stop it. I would back the screw out and inspect the threads.

no, the threads are good, I can screw the lock nut on and off the power screw. I only wish.

How can the screw bottom out on the pump body?

The machined part where the 'o' ring rides stops the screw from going any further. Adding some length to the end of the screw that goes into the pump has be said to help, though I can't verify this.
