Here is a pic of the big charger im wanting to use, its an aireaserch of of an detroit diesel. Not sure on the specs cant find any info on it, But would this be ok to use with my Hx40 or I also have an Hx35?
|
lots of twin pics in newer truck forums. been thinkin myself of a quik spooling tow set=up using hx-35 - ht3b.[coffee] i can try the 3b for free. just all the time in fabbing pipes.

CrewCab, talk to PACool over on CF. He's got that same setup. I believe he's making 400HP/1000TQ or something like that.

I run the HX35/40 hybrid over an HT3B . . .
Attachment 72119 I would recommend you look for a "Cobra-Head" turbo exhaust housing down-pipe as it will help a lot in having the system exhaust down-pipe clear the firewall. It's supposedly used standard on the cummins N series engine . . . Attachment 72120 It has an HX40 inlet so if you plan on running an HX35, you'll need a simple adaptor. Attachment 72121 With some Scheid 6x.06 EDM and a maxed 12mm VE, yesterdays 8.23 1/8th mile pass had the EGT's no higher than 1500*F @ 55psig boost (with a ported head, cam, big IC, etc). :) |
Very nice BC847 thanks for the pics! I was reading CaptinChryslers thread on the way he did his, Kind of looks very straightforward. Thinkin bout maybe tryin somethin like that

I have pics of mine in my gallery.

My ideal set up for one of these would be a 35/40 non WG (short to clear the firewall) over an S472/1.10 with a 40mm external WG going from the manifold to the hot pipe. Should be instant spool up and flow more then enough air for 500RWHP.

O ok Bill, Ill check them out! Thanks

You said you had seen my concoction. If you want to know anything specific about it just give me a PM. JAYERS has a custom set too. Similar to how mine are, but the secondary is on "backwards". Makes for a short hotpipe.
Other members I recall that had pics of them: -Ilikebikes -MikeThomas I am sure there are more, those were just fresh when I was contemplating doing it. There are a ton of customs sets on CompD. Not many in a 1st gen though. I am not sure about the Detroit turbo. Probably a lot of flow, but low pressure?? IDK. If you haven't got the big one yet, maybe look into a HT60. It is kind of an updated HT3B. |
I got the detriot turbo for free, thats kind of why I was thinkin of doin a twin set-up already have the turbos. The only thing I cant figure out is how you plumed in the oil feed lines to the turbos?
|
There is another oil feed on top of your oil filter housing. It should just have a pipe plug in it now. Just remove and hook up a hose to get oil psi to the other turbo.

I got lucky on the oil feed line. I was able to take everything with the turbo, oil line and fittings. The fitting from the 855 screwed right into the filter housing on the 5.9. You need a fitting that is 1/8" NPT male to whatever line you use. Make sure you use 3/8" line to feed it. Most people just get a hydraulic hose made.
On the drains, as long as both lines go downhill all the way to the nipple in the block, it should work fine. If it is too low, you will have to add a drain to the oil pan, above the normal oil level. Found a pic: Attachment 72084 |

I have pictures of Brian Block's setup, I'll have to add them to my photobucket first though.
