Pics of my new 1st gen

Lemme see if I can make the pictures work ...

Yay it worked!

There is nothing more fun that buying a truck and putting on 968 miles on it. I burned 47.2 gallons of fuel giving me 20.5 mpg - not too bad considering I drove the Coquihalla Highway both ways at about 65-70 mph. I had to see how good she'll go ya know.

The first thing my girlfriend and I did when we got her home was wash the 15 years of cigarette smoke out of her. Quite possibly the most disgusting thing I have ever done. Everything was covered in a layer of sticky goo

Next on the list is to "un old man-ify" the truck. She's got crazy CB antennas on the front bumper, suspect wiring under the hood with switches that do nothing, and nasty old mudflaps on the rear.

Blast!! Another club cab escapes my grasp!! Lol. Nice truck very nice. I so badly want a club... Id like a 4x auto or a 2wd stick. I love my truck but the standard cab is just to small for me. Cant wait to see more pics of it!!

Partsdude, That looks like a clean rig!

I know what you mean about the cigarette stuff, My dad bought an 87 chevy C10 off the original owner and the back window/headliner was green. He smoked in it since 87 and we had to scrub the whole interior, it was disgusting. the interior was tan.

Pretty soon your gonna want some more power and a faster spooling turbo

I was told that a 2500 with 5 speed trans would get around 30 mpg and a 3500 with 5 speed would do around 25 mpg, is this about right? I am looking to purchase a 93 3500 or 2500, but I owuld like a little more infor before I dive in this, Thanks Mike

The big thing is the gearing. Depending on the price and if it's 2wd or 4wd either way if the price is right I would say buy it you won't be sorry. With the 1st gens you can get allot of power for free out of them and if you do want performance upgrades they are fairly reasonable price wise. Not to mention the "COOL" factor of a clean 1st gen.

note - be ready to get the "disease" the one where you wish you can win the lottery to have the truck painted or get a bigger turbo or injectors!!!

Yes thats a fair price. Try to get him as cheap as he can go though. Mike you sound new so maybe you should start a new thread. Ok? And the 93 your getting would be ALL mechanical and super easy to work on, mechanical pump, no computer etc. etc.... and easy and free totweak for more power. the 03 you looked at is basicly the same eng. block and thats it. Its totally electronic and all that. different injection system. 12 more valves..

A 93 Cummins with an auto and 3.54 gears (it'll say under the hood on a sticker)
should get a little over 20mpg HIGHWAY, around 16-18 around town.

Theres no such thing as getting 25-30mpg . stick or auto. 23 tops is the best i've heard.
