Orange crud on fuel pin

Hello All. I removed my stock fuel pin to install my new THD pin and noticed my stock one had some orange crud on it. Has anyone else experienced this? The truck has always started fine and run great. No hesitation or loss of power. I recently changed the fuel filter and didn’t notice any water when I drained it. Also changed the governor spring and inside the pump looked fine. Wasn’t sure if I should be super concerned? Thanks

I usually DO see the same orangish crud on the fuel pins, if they have been in there a long time. Scratches right off with your finger nail.
I would not worry about it.

Thankyou! Mine’s been in since ‘89. I was worried about a possible water/fuel issue. Appreciate it guys.

Every stock fuel pin I take out has that stuff on it. It is only missing the crud where the fuel pin rubs when it move in and out with boost.

Is it possible that it was originally lubricated with an orange colored grease?
