New project looking for suggestions
Just bought a 1990 W250 5 speed. Engine has some issues and second gear is out in the trans so im going to go thru the whole truck. I want to build a high performance/tow rig.I dont mind to keep an eye on my guages but i dont want egt's to shoot thru the roof with a load. Most of my loads are 15000 lbs. total truck and trailer. So im looking for suggestion's for turbo set up injector and fuel pump setting's so i can run off and leave most tow rigs if i want too. Thanks
Going to do all the work myself. looking to spend $3000 to $4000 on parts including repair items. But we all know how the snowball effect can be. Botton line is im going to spend what it takes to build the truck i want. Because im not realy in to 2nd generation trucks and everything else is too expensive.
I'd run twins for your goals. Budget twins (hx35 over bht3b) are great for towing. Throw a set of custom edm's at it, some studs and o-ring the head. Probably wouldn't need more than a piston lift pump upgrade as far as fuel supply goes. A gear vendors would be the cats bannanas for splitting gears while loaded...plus you could tow in 4th-over to go easier on the 'rag.
I was thinking twins myself already have a hx35 that i never put on my 91 becuase it is never shut off long enough lol. But as far as a gear vendor never thought about that. How does it mount with a transfer case in play?
