Two things come to mind. Are you sure you put the fuel cone back the same way? Is the fuel pin stuck? Take it apart and move the throttle lever to full throttle, the pin ought to pop out. You will have to push the pin back in with a screwdriver before you put the fuel cone back in.

Don't do it if the truck is running! You can end up with a massive fuel leak that way.

The pin should stick out of the front of the bore the fuel cone goes in. There may be a small amount of diesel/oil in the bore that's preventing you seeing it. Penetrating oil is about the only thing you can do short of tearing the pump apart.

As long as you're not expecting it to give you more boost, go right ahead.

Seriously, though - if it's not running hot don't mess with it unless you are prepared to replace the radiator. Dirt and corrosion may be all that's keeping the coolant in at this point.

Flush it and the leak will most likely get bigger. Unless you're just limping this truck along replace the radiator.

With the afc cover off and the cone out, hold the throttle wide open and gently tap on the housing with a small plastic mallet...it should pop out at that point. My old pump wouldn't spit the stupid pin out with just cycling the throttle, but a few taps with the mallet and it popped right out! My slippery juice of choice here is di-electric grease...seems to stand up to heat better than most and won't run off the pin when it is hot. I put some on the cone where the pin rides and a touch on the bore and with my starwheel all the way to the top, fuel comes on smoothly and consistantly with no sticking to date
