Looking for a frame
 

In the northern California area, looking for a club cab 4x4 frame that's straight, unmodified, with no more than light surface rust. Close to Sac/Auburn would be nice. I really want to build a club/short bed but if I'm going to haul a cabover camper it would probably be better to stay with the 8' bed.

Living in CA do you really have to specify that you want a rust free anything:)
There is a big difference from rust free in the rust belt and rust free in CA. I know I know, to have to deal with the crap of living in Liberal land you have to have something out of it:)

Well, Kalipornia has many varied environments, from salty coastal to high elevation snow. Mine suffers from the latter, sand and ice melt on I80. The crap of living here has gotten to be overwhelming. Next summer my youngest is getting married in Wisconsin so we are going to do a road trip to explore other parts of the country to see where to move to. It pains me to say that but I don't want to spend my last 20 years living through the decline, plus, people in substantially better financial shape say they can't afford to retire here and I won't be able to retire at all.

I should post some pictures of my frame to get some feed back.

People tend to forget that Commiefornia has 2 parties and 2 climates. In the coastal areas is where all the liberal/socialists and inland is where the working people live.

SoCal has no snow except in the mountaintops where you can go see it if you like and go home when you're tired of it. In Northern CA they have snow and redwoods and other strange things and people. Especially in San Francisco. I hear they grow a lot of pot up there. [laugh]

San Francisco is quite famous around here for their bum exports. The city gives them $30 and a one way bus ticket. They arrive daily and the crime goes up daily.

Took a drive with wifey to Reno, and hit all the toy stores for some eye candy window shopping. Cabelas, then Scheels, then ended with Summit. Told my wife while driving thru there that we're only 1.5 hours away from living without a taxed retirement, and she said no way to living out in the desert. After I got to looking at the town, I later agreed. Seems I hear of a lot of folks doing the thing where they establish residency two years prior to retiring, and make the move to Nevada and they don't get taxed on their retirement, even though they spent most of their working careers in CA. I believe Arizona and Florida are the other two spots that don't tax a pension.
Another thing that killed me, is watching some dude outright pay for a pistol at Scheels, and take it home right that same moment. No grace period, like we do in CA.
CA is a great place to live, as like Edwin said, climate is awesome, and snow, redwoods, mountains are all but a stones throw away. But, unfortunately, you pay prime to live here. I can deal with the cost of living here somewhat, but it's all the BS rules I hate. That smogging of diesels just irks me, as back in 1991 when I bought my first diesel I told myself bye bye smog tests. When that law came about at around 2007, all it did was make a lot of oil burners furious.

The Ca waiting period is stupid. Most states don't have it. on top ov that in Komifornia we don't have many choices on hand guns. That's one reason I am waiting until we move to buy a 9mm it is also much easier to sell my .44

It is going to get worse on smog. the fearless leaders want a carbon free state by 2030. They want to force people into electric cars.

I read an article that pointed out that conservatives and moderates are moving out and progressive liberals are moving in at about the same rate.
Word is Jerry Brown is working on an exit tax on California based retirement. One of the reasons Robin is retiring now.

I'm starting to see a pattern here. Every time a resident of CA posts, those other state fellas chime on how crazy our state is(I agree), then it starts to go all about gun laws, smog control, rules here and rules there, LOL. I bet you can't wait to get on out of here, Mark!
I'd like to, maybe one day when I get younger, but for now, all our families are here, and if we left we would be isolating ourselves.

I'm okay with that, wifey isn't.

bigred I hope I didn't come off like an idiot. I was totally joking. Everyone on this website that hangs their hat in CA are some of the nicest people I have met. I cant say anything for CA more than the stuff I read on MSNBC or Fox. How hard working, honest, blue collar residents put up with the state and its liberal idiots are beyond me. There are truly great things about CA. Sadly the rest of the nation only sees the bad daily. I would love to see the redwoods but will never travel there again. I hope you find a nice frame and a nice place to reside.

Freight, no harm no foul, it's worse than what you read! I've worked with lots of eastcoasters. They come out for the skiing and stay. Single digit temps in the morning and warms to 32 or more during the day with intense blue skies during the winter. Probably the best state to live in for climate and geography but totally screwed up now.
Nevada is lost, right behind CA. I work with Nevadans, was consider that move but it's going downhill fast.

Curious to check how bad it is, by means of the upper half of that shock absorber. If you grab it with your hand and squeeze hard, do you think it would crumble in pieces? What would happen if you took a scratch awl and hammered it into the frame? Would it puncture it?
Not any form of a testing procedure by all means, but curious as to how weak that steel is.

I am ready. More often than not when I think of what I like about this place you can't do or go there anymore.

now for the firearms part: Assembly bill 7 restricts open carry on public land. ie national forests. this is the most crippling to us.
Assy. bill 424more school zone restrictions on firearms. ASSY. bill464 makes FFL have tighter security. ASSY.bill would restrict buying of all firearms to one a month.
I haven't read these yet but I am sure there is more crammed into each one.
