leaky ip

my pump has started to leak and is coming from the front, and looks like it is coming from the gov shaft possibly. it is on a stud between the timing cover and pump, what research i have done looks like what is called the gov shaft. can i fix this myself or does the pump need rebuilt?

Look in the sticky post and find the governor spring installation instructions. YOu will basically have to follow them to remove the top cover from the pump, press out the old "throttle" bushing, press in a new one, part number 1-460-324-332, and replace the o-ring seal on the shaft. It is something that you can do yourself, but it is clean and careful work.
