Leaking Throttle shaft causing no start
Leaking Throttle shaft causing no start
Has anyone had a driping throttle shaft air lock the pump and cause a REALLY hard start? I've got a 92 and recently I picked up some poor fuel and the truck has been harder and harder to start. I pumped out the bad fuel and added some good, but now I have to hold the gas to the floor and prey that the truck will light. It sounds like it is air locked. Once started it runs well as always but I have a steady drip from the throttle lever, which has a little play in it also.
Sound familiar to anyone? Is the shaft bushing repair possible in the truck? Thanks everyone

yes I had simular problems with my throttle shaft. Among other leaks. My problem ended up being the throttle bushing was worn out, so I went to a local Bosch shop in Houston and bought a master seal kit ($6.80) and a new throttle shaft bushing ($28.50). Once I fixed the sloppy leaky throttle shaft it has ran better and smoother than it ever has since I've owned it. It takes about an hour to pull the top of the pump off and press in the new bushing, not too bad if you have some basic mechanical skills.
