was just wondering if it were possible to...

turn the pump down so the engine made less than stock horsepower...

yeah, I know it's kind of a dumb question. The reason I'm asking is I'm looking at injectors, and some of them are pretty big, so thats why I ask if you can turn the pump lower than what it is at the stock setting.

If you back the full power screw out instead of turning it in you can get less power than stock. I had to do it to a work truck to get it through DEQ, It was a pathetic pig of a truck to drive that would barely pull it's own weight, but it a .04% opacity The real question is why you are thinking about upgrading injectors if you don't want to make more power?

Well I was thinking:

1. Buy large injectors (+80)
2. Tranny is stock so I don't want to make too much power and mess it up, so...

3. Turn pump down for the time being
4. Upgrade TC, VB & flexplate when money allows
5. Turn pump back up.

Or...

1. Buy smaller injectors (+30)
2. Leave pump alone
3. Upgrade TC, VB & flexplate when money allows
4. Turn pump up alot

shooting for 300 bhp on stock tranny, then 425 bhp with upgraded transmission.

Would poor atomization be a concern with bigger injectors being fed less fuel?
I would put the money towards the tranny first. With everything tightened up in the geartrain, the truck will probably feel peppier and put more power to the ground. Plus, the peace of mind is probably worth the price.

you could use a valet switch to accomplish what you are looking to do. a light foot will also help.
