Just got my 90 dodge diesel truck back in the spring and it was thinking of changing the tranny oil because the previous owner didn't keep any records at all - I was wondering how many litres do these getrag trannys take for oil? Also I've read somewhere that these transmissions like a extra liter of oil in them to keep them happy is this true? thanks guys..

Here is a link from the "Sticky" with the fluid caps for every thing almost. it say to fill will 3.5quorts. But yes it is good to over fill them. it can be done though the the top in the cab(you just have to get the stick out) or you can just unbolt one of the PTO cover bolts ( i use the top bolt) and fill tell she runs back at you a little

Try to get at least 4.5 Quarts into it. 5 is always good.

About 4.25-4.5 Liters I believe. 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil......

 

I get six quarts in everytime.
Seven with the Fast oil cooler hanging off the side.
