Holley Red Pumps

The engine mounted lift pump seems to be dead on my 92 350.
Question; Will the holley red pump mounted under the hood pull fuel from the tank or will I have to mount it under by the tank? I have the stock pump by passed.
I am using biodiesel, and blending wvo which is not good for the rubber parts that are used in the stock pumps.

Thanks Tom

93 350, stock

it will pull it through but not very well ..they are designed to push rather than pull...they also have rubber parts inside and do not last very long running diesel through without leaks..so i would imagine the bio would really eat things up

Designed to push. Only runs 5-7 psi. Dont know so much about the rubber parts melting thing tho...

I got 2 electric in series since one would not do the job even under the tank. I had HR and it did last a few years on another diesel motor but it started leaking from a small bushing inside and I had to replace it with something else.

I've run the red pump for 2+ years in 450hp gas app no probs. I've run the blue which is basically the same as the red pump for 2+ years in the ctd w/zero probs. Couple of things that may cause this pump to fail. 1. running it dry 2. To solve this remove the 4 bolts/screws at the bottom of the pump and remove the brass looking screen, reassemble. 3. this internal filter seems to clog easily and thus the pump fails, install a pre-pump filter which can easily be cleaned. 4. Make sure you have the proper gauge wiring to this pump as the load may cause failure as well. Overall, these are really good little fuel pumps...the installation and how it's done seems to cause failure. good luck.

I ran a blue for a year. Leaked constantly, even after resealing it a couple times with different silicones. Finally got tired of it and bought an airdog. But if you do go with one mount it on the frame close to the tank.
