HELP!!!!!!Turbo is edited
So there I was in the process of installing a 16cm housing and HTT compressor upgrade when the 13mm nut snapped off with the tip of the shaft. I was only at 100ftlbs. Don't know what happened. SO can I just replace the shaft? And at what cost OR buy a new turbo? I am in a bind and need my truck running by this weekend. Thinking about a HX35. As in sig BHAF, 190's, 5 speed and pumped tweaked. I dont want to just throw out my new 16 housing so would it work wull with the HX35? Truck is more for towing than all out racing. Your thoughts and answers any greatly appreciated!

HX35 with the 12cm housing is fun with a 5 speed. but your towing so get a hx35 and do the 60mm compressor upgrade and put on the 16cm housing and youll have an awesome street/tow setup.

Also what is the stock compressor size of the HX35?

When you reassemble it you need to torque the nut to 150 in. lb. if it's a 6-point nut, 135 in. lb. if it's a 12-point nut |

Um, use smaller units.
And don't use one of these: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3239/...5ed6eaff_o.jpg |
Yup, inch not foot. No wonder the thing broke. " I was only at 100 foot pounds ". They say you only learn the hard way. Been there done that.

The stock compressor size of a hx-35 i believe is 56mm.
|
100 ft/lbs = 1200 in/lbs
120 in/lbs = 10 ft/lbs oops. |
Well ive been there and done the same thing. Good thing i was just putting my old stock turbo back together.... Then realized that i needed to be in inch lbs afterwards.
|
I would think the hx-35 if you can get your hands on one would be great. Throw your 16 cm housing on there and you will have it back together for the weekend! Good luck

Yes I deffinatly learned the hard way on this one. The shaft itself to be repalced is abut 340$. I found out on an Hx35 the compressor wheel is about 58 mm so buying a turbo is more of a waste unless I go BIG. So with the upgrade I already have I am going to rebuild the stock turbo and put my new wheel on. Don't worry the shop will be doing all the TQ specs this time. I think I have a permanent dent in my forehead from hitting my head against the wall! Thanks for all the input[duhhh]
