Hello from Hawaii, overdrive issue
Sold my last CTD about 8 years ago, just picked up a 92 yesterday. Runs great, but it is a rough mother hummer!
I will post pics and all sorts of stuff, but I want to know- my last 93 was a 5 speed, but this one is an automatic- how does the overdrive work? A button on the dash or something? Mine is unhooked!

There is a sensor TPS (throttle position sensor) just above the injector pump that's shaped like a small black jewelry box, about an 1 & 1/2" square. It senses the position of the linkage / throttle armature, and when the 3 mechanical (fluid actuated) gears have shifted, it electronically engages 4th. If,the wiring is missing to the overdrive unit, and you have no tps, you will have to either obtain a harness or install an after market adapter.
There's quite a bit of info on it in the sticky, I believe.

Whoa- that is a lot of stickies! I have been staring and reading many of them, saw one to kinda bypass it with a solenoid, can't find the one for the stock hook up. Any help on which thread would be the right one?
Do you have a harness? An ecm? A speed sensor , a TPS?
The harness is plug and play at the trans. Each plug end fits the corresponding sensor or switch.
Does your Speedo work?
The factory FSM is the place to start, as it has the wiring diagrams to go by.

Off topic... But holy cow, I can only imagine what it would cost to register that truck over there! I've got a buddy in Kauai, and he tells me registration fees are by weight! His little s10 was a couple hundred a year if I remember correctly.
