heard mixed comments regarding running with or without the ring, the solenoid drafts underneath it, im running without, and my hx35 made more screamy noises, but i gated at 36psi, im thinking thats why its not peaking the 42psi the ungated hx could achieve

 

Has nothing to do with the ring. It's because it's a bigger turbo.

 

I put mine back in. I agree it sounds neat at 40 psi, but I read about it helping keep the pressure across inducer even. Is this true? But I felt no performance gains in running with the ring so I put it back in.

 

I have always heard removing the ring has no effect on anything what so ever, but i wont bet on it.

 

im for more turbo boost noise, ring out, after i got the bigger exhaust welded aiming down to the ground to reduce sound, i was suprised to enjoy twice the sound, of the exhaust, causing stares from closed windows, of near by cars, got to muffle, unfortunately, maybe the turbo noise will recover.
