Well i dont no what happened but with the hx35 making around 41psi blew the head gasket there is compression comeing threw the radiator or something bubbles that never stop and truck gets hot before we drilled a hole in thermostat. if i go back with a stock head gasket and head bolts and have the head plained will it hold a hx35 with a 60mm upgrade? i have an hx55 to make twins but dont have the cash to buy studs right now. I know some guys are getting 50psi out of stock bolts what do i have to do to make my new head gasket last ?

 

Torquing the bolts to atleast 125 ft/lbs seems to help. Aslo makes sure the engine is fully warmed up before high boost.

 

About how much boost will be safe to run with the head bolts tq to 125 and everything new?

 

Mine is holding. Stock bolts and cummins gasket. Im pushing 40 to 50 psi regularly. As stated above, wait until its warm before getting into it heavy.
