Gauge install ?s

I'm working with isspro tranny temp gauge, sensor replaced the OD kick out switch:

1. Did you guys cut the plastic connectors from the sensor to the controller box and add more wire?

2. Where did you mount the controller box?

3. Did you cut the connectors from the controller to the gauge so you don't have to drill a big hole in the dash?

I'm using a 3-pod 2nd gen mount. Some minor belt sanding and aluminum bending has it sitting on the dash pretty good.

4. Is there a sweet spot to get up through the dash with the gauge wires. I wanted to put the mount on the far right side of the raised part of our dash (above and to the right of the message center).

I'll loom it if I have to--she's not gonna win any beauty contests anyways.

5. Any pictures of the pyro control box mounted behind the glove box or any gauge installs in progress? All I found are really nice looking finished shots in my searches.

Thanks!

grandpa ralph i'm not sure about your tranny temp sensor. But on mine wiring to the gauge pod is just loomed and run up between the dash and door pillar. I have several wires and pieces of tubing coming up to my gauge center. I'm not near thru with it but i going to monitor alot. Oil, water temp., boost, drive press, fuel press, ip case press, pre i/c boost, intake temp, and ip return fuel press. So my loom is kinda big but it's neatly tucked up by the windshield then turns into an opening on the back of the gauge pod box. Wish I could help more. But just to let you know your not the only one who has a loom coming across your dash. I see you must have met up with Ramrod and got your 366 spring and fuel pin done. You say it keeps up with traffic--bet you could blow by the traffic now. Good luck from another grandpa.

There is plenty of room behind the message center to run some gauge wiring through the dash out of sight. I've run enough wires up that way for 5 gauges with their lights as well as a few more wires for the KSB hot wire. All of them are inside the dash.

Rollin' Coal,

Your gauges sound impressive. I don't have grandchildren, just thought the truck looked like an old fishin' rig. So, it's named Grandpa Ralph.

I ended up drilling the dash and answered most of my own questions, the long and slow way.

It's temporary now, taped to the dash, wire nuts not splices.

I used the fuse tap Wanna recommended in fuse #14.
There is a 3 amp fuse in there. Is that right?
So far, gauges and lights don't work---but power windows still do and it still starts.

Tomorrow, I'll get out the multimeter.
Thanks for the replies.

Ok grandpa ralph so the truck is the grand pa lol. Yea I have 3 grand kids, if i'd would have known the grand kids were so much fun i'd skipped the kids and went straight to the grand kids lol. The gauges are a pain but I want to monitor alot of things while trying to learn a few more things. I've been working on this ole truck off and on more off for 5 months. I've gotten alot done but work keeps getting in the way of play. Glad you got it figured out.

Well, they work now.

WOT running uphill empty:

Boost is 18-19
EGT 1150
Tranny temp 175

Now for the part- I don't have OD anymore. Light works on the button.

Ideas appreciated.

Thanks.

Got it.
Have to plug the original sensor back into the connector and tie-wrap the whole thing up there.
That one's not wired for "no news is good news".
