Fuel line from tank fitting

'93 Club Cab, D250. PO cut the plastic fuel line from the tank to add a Parker Racor prefilter set up. I've by passed that filter setup for now since it was before the LP and probably reduced flow (2 micron filter was installed). Anyway, the original line was cut and a rubber fuel line hose clamped on to the tube. Getting some air into the system from this hack connecting and want to do something better. Is there some type of fitting I can retrofit? I came across these couplers, thinking one side into plastic line, the existing rubber hose connected to other? Open to ideas. The OEM nylon/plastic lines are 3/8" correct?

Ck NAPA I always see a repair kit hanging on the wall for plastic fuel lines never needed one.
What about air brake line repair kit it has a insert and then a compression fitting.
