What should i expect to pay for a one? it rebuilt 16000 miles ago pulled from a wreaked truck have not seen it but suppose to be good condition no slipping with a Converter?

Also, how much for the bellhousing and flexplate?

yeah I'd definely snag that up before someone else does.
I did'nt catch the fact the tranny only had 16,000 on it.

My dad loves that place, great phone service and they've been in the business forever. Look at how much they know about the diesel trannies. They make a full upgrade 518 diesel upgrade. I thought that was cool.

 

no point in having it go to crap right away. Going to build it right and hope it holds for a while.

I pd 500 for a semi usable trans and all the goodies to do the swap.. I felt and still feel like I got a good deal.. In my opinion, the best 500 I put into the truck. That and a 5 dollar toggle switch!!!!

 

Quick question for you. Do you have to run a toggle switch for the OD and lockup, or will the OD engage like it should? I have read posts that say you need one for the OD and one for lockup, so can you clear it up for me?

I've also heard about pressure plates controlling OD, is that what you have to do if you don't want it on a toggle?

yes. some have used pressure SWITCHES to control when od is turned on and when lockup is engaged.

 

If you go to the web site that Crossy's son told you about previously and scroll down to the bottom of the page, they tell you exactly how to set up 518 w/lockup and TQ using pressure and/or vacuum switches.

A little over a year ago I bought a 47RH, a year old BD107025X tq conv, an adapter plate and a fairly new Cummins starter for about $1100.00 shipped. A few weeks ago I started pulling it down and found the case cracked behind the overrunning clutch which I found out makes the case a candidate for the recycler. I started calling around locally and found a trans shop that had a rebuilt 47RH riding on his shelf for three years and wanted $500.00 to make it go away. After pulling this one down I only put in new thrust washers and bearings and I have a shift kit to put in yet.

I briefly spoke with Dave Goerend, he and his staff seem very helpful.

The person I spoke with at PATC was honest to a fault, he talked me out of about $500.00 in upgrades that I didn't need for what I was doing.

Well, I used the factory tps for now to control the od.. I will replace this summer with a potentiameter, It works good with the tps for now.. As for the lockup. You can use a simple toggle switch or hook up a pressure switch and you can dial your desired lockup in.. I will probably hook one up this summer, you can have a three position toggle.. So I can do it manually or it will go on automatically at a desired speed..

 

Sounds like a great deal to me especially if you're getting the adapter and flexplate with the trans. Is the torque converter a stock unit or an upgrade? Plus you'll get to upgrade to the 2nd GEN flexplate then you'll just need to pick up the starter and you'll have everything you need. With only 16,000 miles I'd be drooling, haha. I don't think it's too much to pay for what you get and the $500-600 range seems to be what is a right price for them. It's easily said that you could pay more at any other place, but paying less is always nice. Good luck with it!
