Engine Swap to a Ram Charger

alright guys i have a project that once it's done will be Bad ***

Here's the deal i have a 92 D250 with a a518 in it. but the bad news it that i
wrecked it in Nov. and it's going to cost alot to get it fixed. But i have a
85 Ram Charger that i want to swap the cummins and tranny over
i've been told that the dash on the D250 will bolt right up and the harness well
swap with a little modification. the problem is that my d250 was not 4X4
so i need to find a transfer case for a A518 i'm guessing that they made one.
So let me know if anyone has any ideas

Yup, Dodge put the NP205 behind the A518. I don't know what it will take to attach a 205 to a 2X 518 - as in extension/adapter. Probably be easiest to pick up a 518 already equipped with t-case.

Your Ramcharger is going to be seriously nose heavy!

You should check out Fred Swanson's ramcharger. Its about to be on the road soon. There are some pics in his user page. Thing is awesome and looks as factory as one of our trucks!

you need an auto np205, and just the O/D section of a 518. Since you have the 2WD, you'll also want to find the drivetrain wiring harness from a 4x4, it will plug into the gray connector right by the engine. There's 2 bigger connectors, one gray and one black.

Nose heavy, so far I'm not seeing too much of an imbalance, when i drive mine around. Guess I need to go weigh it, to see what it is.

did you use the axle's from the charger and did you swap over them from your donor truck?

Check out his thread for details

Yeah, I started a thread in the conversion forum, but the short answer is yes, I used the axles from the donor.

Here are a few more conversions

6BT in a 93 RC

84 RC with a 4BT

Another RC

Crazy RC build that goes from BB with Air Ride to Cummins & Leaf springs

It has become very popular over at RCC just look in the Diesel section or in the pics section for build up threads
