that is pretty neat, now to see the results...

Common Rails have a series of Injecting fuel in the cylinders before and after TDC. So I've been thinking maybe with 2 pumps you could have two injection events. One before TDC and one after with each pump poppin them off at different times or have it spray longer with the added pressure and flow of two pumps "Y"ing into each injector. Of course you would have to cusomize the injectors to make this work... but I've been pondering, and I believe its possible

The idea of the after burn is lower emissions, that is all. Most tuned common-rails have pre- and main injection cycles. Then some even tune out the pre-injection at higher RPMs.

If I would do it, I would tune the extra one as a pilot but change the timing spring so at XXXX rpms, they are within 1* or 2* of each other...

Doubt you could manually fire the Injection events as precisely as you would need to.

Someone did it with a P-pumper...

If you notice, he has a Y connection at the injector.

Here is the thread:

I think you would have to keep them synced, with mechanical injectors you could not fire them fast enough for multiple injections. Anything that does that has electronically controlled injectors which react much, much faster

Well if they can do it with two p pumps and have good results then I don't see why 2 VE pumps wouldn't work. Or like they said on compd more fuel with less time even with one injection event.

This is completely possible. You have to use a cogged (ribbed) belt and matching pullys. They could be sourced from a couple of old over head cam 4 bangers (just have to be identical). The timing events would need to be identical or their would be backflow issues. This could be solved with one was check valves on each injector line though. I brought this idea up a few years ago and Wanna asked if I had been dropped on m head!

I believe it is. I would think gear on gear would be a better route, with one gear in between the normal pump gear and 2nd pump gear so it doesn't spin backwards. That is a lot of stress on the cam gear though like said on compd... I've got another good non ic VE, and another one in pieces along with another pump gear. I know where to get another case and cover to rig up or I know where to have a custom one machined. I would think two identical VEs with the same cc flow and same timing etc. would work. This way you would get twice the fuel and twice the pressure. With the injectors setup right you could have them pop off and stay open longer from the added fuel. You could have the lines tie together right after the pumps and run a bigger line over instead of a bunch and have a mess to work on. It would be cool to offset the timing on one so you could have more fuel from one pump in later rpm so we could actually spin some R's without running out of fuel but not sure if it'd work...

Its been talked about for years but no one has sat down and done it. I believe its possible its just no one has taken the time or money to try it. Everyone just goes to a p pump instead when they can't make enough power. I think I could build it just as cheap or cheaper than a p pump swap maybe with the parts I have and the people I know. Hopefully I can get into fuels class next semester and get a plan going.

Before anyone buys the wrong part, a check valve is NOT needed. The DVs already do that. That is how pressure is kept up in the line when it is not firing off. Then the off set timing is just fine.
