Door Hinge Pin Replacement ???

I thought we had a sticky on hinge-pin replacement.

I recently read a good TECH article on it somewhere, but can't seem to find it.

Can someone point me in the right direction, please ??

Thanks.

It just happens that I have 2 new repair kits sitting on my desk right in front of me. The driver’s door has a bit of sag to it when I close it so I bought 2 kits from NAPA and I am going to replace all 4 of the pins and bushings when I get a chance.

I am hoping they gave me the correct part.

NAPA
Door Hinge Pin Repair Kit #675-5151 @ $3.99 + tax.

Dimensions:
Pin: .370" X 2.48"
Pin: .370" X 3.57"
Bushings: .376" X .495" X .250"

Yup, 5151's are the right ones.

Done Got Pins

I have six doors worth of new pins and bushings.

DORMAN = HELP! #38386

Not many days ago, I read a detailed write-up, with plenty of pictures, on replacing the pins in Dodge trucks.

I thought it was here, in the sticky, but it must have been somewhere else, as I can't seem to find it again.

Oh well, it probably isn't so complicated that I can't figure it out.[duhhh]

Its easy, all I would recommend is an extra set of hands around to ballence the door.

Is it possible to do this without taking the hinge off the door? IE jack the door up just so and then hit it out with a sledge? change the bushings and pop the new pin back in there?

Yes, that's how I did mine. Often just replacing the lower pin and bushings will fix the problem, so do it first and see if you need to bother with the upper.

I sure hope so; because, there are a couple of door-hinge bolts that require DASH removal to access.[verymad]

Bear, when I did mine I drove the bottom pin out and took the bolts out of the door on the upper. No real need to remove the dash unless the hinge itself is wore/wallowed out. The way the door curves at the top there's not enough room to drive it out like you can the bottom.
