+_______________________________________________
$257.91

Other things you will need or explanation…
- 11/16 Metal drill bit to drill out the stud holes on the rotors
- 2-1/2 hub socket so you can get the hub off and torqued back on correctly
- someone to cut the spacing material sent with the brackets (mine were 1.75inch.
- I sat in O'Rielly for at least 1/2 hour searching through the boxes of brake hoses to find one that would work and not be too long, hopefully this saves you some time.
- i've been using the performance friction pads for a while now and love them.. when i started the warranty was 2 year, now it's lifetime. I know the lifetime warranty actually scares most away but they are great pads. fronts for a 2wd were only 26.99.

I'm smiling ear to ear, this truck hasn't stopped that good in who knows how long, heck i was even able to get the RWAL to kick in, 60-0 stopping distance is about 1/2 what is was (rears were NOT working properly, everyone should not expect that drastic of a difference.)

I forgot, since you use the 77 K20 front calipers you do NOT have a parking brake. I have not solved this yet but plan to retrofit a Driveshaft clamp out of another application. not using the PB(eldurado calipers) took out most of if not all of the fab work.

This sounds like a great idea.

TJE- my recomendation would be to wait until you have to reaplce the drums since the conversion can be done cheaper than a reg brake job. The only reason i would switch now is if you are hating the brakes. The other plus is i never have to worry about those stupid self asdjusters again! at least on this truck.

flyingd- yup no parking brake... for now. i plan to solve this problem as soon as possible. i'm hoping to find a cheap applications to swap from.

Wow, that's almost half the cost of the EGR setup. I would look at retrofitting the driveline brake that's on our '91 Super Duty tow truck.

Just out of curiosity will this work on a 1991 Dana 71 DRW? I already did all the upgrades known and the brakes still are too weak.

Generally, No they won't work as there's not enough room for the calipers inside the DRW rims.

Micaiahfied- Can you see if DRW rims have enough room since you used a different caliper than what is usually used for this upgrade? Or is it already known that there isn't enough room even with these calipers.

Neat calipers

I purchased a rear disc setup for a big block duster from SSBC.The rear calipers are from a 1991 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe. They have a built in lever that EASILY adapts to about any cable or lever setup for emergency brake.I run a divorced Dana 200 case(with earplugs) that has the factory drum/band setup for e brake. In the process of using this caliper and rotor from same application for e brake on a 1968 Kaiser M 715.Cummins 4bta has vacum pump for power brakes and run my wipers too.It is going to be nice getting away from DRUM brakes. Now,about them 5:89 gears.....Never thought I would consider 4:56s high gears......

Ggg- if i can find someone local with a drw truck i guess we could pull a rim and pop it on mine to see... would that even work? would the rim line up the same? If nothing else i can give you some measurements if that would help. of course you could always upgrade to 19.5 inch rims )

DanMan- tell me more about this driveline brake!

If you could try a DRW rim that would be best, the bolt pattern is the same so the inside wheel should bolt on. I bet the outside wheel will not due to the fender will be in the way. Going to 19.5 rims will make my braking issues worse due to the larger tire will have more leverage working against the brakes. Same principal as when you go to big mudder tires on a 4x4 your brakes don't work as good as they did with smaller tires.
