Check engine light on

Anyone know what triggers the check engine light? It came on today while I was pulling a hill at WOT.

It goes away after shutting the engine off but then comes back on after driving for a short while. Thanx.

According to the book, the Engine Controller turns on the Check Engine lamp when the input from one of these sensors fails:
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
Coolant Temperature Sensor
Battery Voltage Sense
Battery Voltage too high

Are any Fault Codes showing up when you do the key on-off-on-off-on thing?

im guessing mne has to do with over charging then, sometimes my battery will shift in the tray and hit the lip of the fender. i noticed when the light was it was charging higher than normal.

thanks for that list.
