A/C install, Condensor size?

I'm slowly gathering the components to install A/C into my non-A/C equipped truck. I have all of the interior components(complete dash assembly with controls and heater box).

Any thoughts on what to use for a condensor? I'll be running R134a so do you think the stock condensor will be good enough or should I go with a bigger one and custom mount it?

From what I have heard, R134A doesn't cool as well and to get the temp down lower the system should be slightly undercharged. IMHO if you had a larger condenser you could get a full charge and better cooling. OTOH, a larger condenser may not do you any good at all without a larger evap and you may just wind up with a frequently iced over evap on humid days.

I'm sure more knowledgeable people will chime in though.

I believe the stock size will work, however for max cooling larger is better on the condensor.

Stock will work but as compared to R12, the R134A charge will run slightly higher head pressures as mentioned above. The resulting warmer than it otta be liquid to the evaporator will reduce its capacity if only by the increased flash-gas.

Systems designed for R134A, with the same cooling capacity will sport a slightly larger condenser.

RE ~

R12 pressure @ 130*F = 181psig

R134A pressure @ 130*F = 199psig

Hope this helps.
