Bumper Guides???? Aluminum polishing

Any of ya'll had or thought of putting bumper guides on your 1st Gen? Ya I mean the Chrome pipes that come up off your bumper on each side with an amber light on top. Anywho just curious if anyone has messed with em about the best ive found are from Bores Manufacturing and I dont care to pay 89.99 plus tax for em so i plan to make my own. I am starting with 3/4" o.d. 9/16" i.d. Aluminum tubing. I have ordered some special order lights for the top from work. First step is im going to try to figure out how to polish aluminum and do it to these 2 soon to be bumper guides. If anyone knows how to polish aluminum please share, could benefit more members than myself.

I had em on a previous truck. They ( Bores) were made to fit the truck exactly and did well. I used to pay about $55 for the set, but that was a long time ago. I think they are a bit out of fashion these days, but if you like em go for it. I don't think you'll get around the price unless you buy a generic set which won't fit as well.

On the polishing- the local Sears Hardware carries different polishing wheels and paste abrasives for bench grinders and such. I was going that route eventually to polish my valve covers. On a wheel it would be pretty easy to do pipe.

Ok thanks Yah im not too sure about which way to go about it ive googled it and found some guys seem to do it different ways and i was just hoping to get an opinion from someone here who has polish aluminum before. Part of the confusing part is when sanding down one set of guys say sand in an opposite direction each time you change grits. Another says go intersecting directions. Say up and down then on the next grit going side to side then back to up and down for the next grit.
