Aren't they wicked pricey? Like over $900 or something silly? You can get a Goerend that is used by many on here with a lifetime warranty (or 100,00 mile) for $650. People swear by them.

Is this for an A-727?

A few questions about the warranty.

Lifetime warranty against what, only after inspection?

Is it still a lifetime warranty if you buy it outright and install it on your transmission regardless of who or how it is built?

How is it honored, do I have to ship it back including freight charges?

If I have one and I grenade my transmission could I simply have it flushed?

What is the fine print on what is not covered or they a nice company and just ship you a new converter no questions asked?

I like the idea of a lifetime warranty.

All good questions Jim. Here's a couple more for thought... Who builds BD's converter? Who builds Goerends? I know who builds Goerends...

You can get a BD torque converter for $41 ????

You went on goerend's site or did you actually call him?

He does not have the 1st gen converters on his site. You're probably looking at the wrong thing.

Jim Lane, The 518/727 converters are the same so yes it will work

I was told that it covers anything that happens to it. you just have to cover the freight each way. If you snap the input shaft and it takes the converter out they will replace it. If the trans lets loose and it takes the converter out they will also replace it.

I'm gonna take a guess and say the BD is not made by them and is probably not as tight as a goerend,

It's your choice but i'd go with what others have ran and have had good luck with, i don't think anyone has ever ran a BD converter before. Goerend seems to be the most popular and best choice.

People have run BD convertors in a 1stGen, it's just been a while since they posted about it on the net. I dont quite remember what brand is in my built 93, but it is good and tight, a far cry from the stock slop-o-matic convertor that is stock. Stall is around 1350 (stall being defined as the point at which, with the parking brake on, it drags down the engine, and wont let the engine go any faster), IIRC.

i dont think bd is too tight, when i called them they said it would stall 300 rpm lower than stock. i ended up going with dtt and it is awesome, im sure goerend is just as good or mabe better

I have one in my truck right now. It was part of the deal when I bought the 618. I don't have any issues with it.
