Auto trans. question

Will a bad throttle positioning sensor cause a 92 auto trans to shift in and out of overdrive? If anybody knows, I sure would appreciate some good advice. It's about a 350.00 part, don't want to buy one if I don't need it.
Thanks

yes. if the TPS is out of adjustment or failing than it will do that. Have you checked the fluid? sometime when mine is a little low it acts a little funny.

A bad tps will cause that problem for sure. Look in the sticky at the potentiometer install much cheaper than a tps and it works well.

Thanks guys.
I did check the fluid, it was OK. Also added
Sea Foam Trans Tune which didn,t help (do additives ever help?) I was told that the TPS might be the problem, but not being an Auto trans guy he wasn't sure.

There is a test procedure in the sticky to test the tps.
