auto to nv4500 driveshaft question
Hey all. Just throwing this out there to see if anyone has done this and can tell me for sure. I have 2 wheel drive 1 ton dually ext cab 1st gen. It had a stock a518 in it that went out about 95k. I swapped in a built 47rh with triple disc and decide about 15k later that I wanted a 5 speed. I threw in a getrag I had from a ctd doner truck for my crew cab build to get my kicks. Had to swap front portion of driveshaft from donor truck as wellbecause lengths were different. I still have the sto k front shaft. I did some trading and came out with a fresh nv4500 and a south bend dual disc clutch that I had rebuilt. Im getting ready to swap in the NV4500 and im curious if im going to need to get either driveshaft redone or will one of the two front pieces I have fit. Thank yall in advance

When I swapped my getrag for an NV4500HD I had to have my drive shaft shortened about 6'. I had the shop that did the work replace all the "U" joints and carrier bearing. That was about 15 years ago and all is still well with my setup.
