adjusting tranmission bands

Coould anyone tell me the proper procedure for adjusting the reverse/low reverse transmission band in my '92 250 auto. also, can anyone recommend a good repair manual to me? thanks in advance.

Welcome and as far as manual the only good one is the factory service manual.

As far as the bands still kinda confused on them myself.

To adjust the low/reverse band the tranny pan must be removed, the kick down band adjuster is on the drivers side. You also need an inlb torque wrench, the spec is 72inlb. So you loosen the jamb nut back the adjuster off a turn or so then torque down to 72inlb then tighten the lock nut. Also don't take the adjusters all the way out. You will also need a 5/16" square socket for the adjuster.

You have to torque to 72in lb and then back the adjuster out the specified number of turns . My FSM says 72 in lb then back out 2 1/2 for the kickdown (the one outside) and 72 in lb ,back out 2 turns for the low/reverse (inside the pan).
