Added some LED Cab lights..

Well I have been wanting to run cab lights for a while.. so I Added some LED Cab lights to truck..

I bought them from Recon
http://www.reconaccessories.com

These are 1999-2002 Dodge Smoke Cab lights

I used this post to help get them lined up
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=100449

but I moved mine a little closer to front of cab..

They look good and work well but the lights seem to be a little testy so we will see if they keep working or not..

Hey Bruiser they look great! Was the light wiring hard to install? I think they look better closer together

those overhead lights will save you lots of bright lights coming over the hills, ...I noticed a big difference when I started driving mine same as we see the big rigs way before their headlights appear ...looking good!

The wiring was not that bad....

My truck did not come with lights so I had to wire it all.
I should have taken pics but the camera was at home and I was at shop.

The gist was I laid out holes cut the holes, then used a brazing stick and taped the wire to it and pulled the wire threw each hole like that. repeat that 5 times for each hole and it was wired..

then I ran a negative and power threw roof down a pillar, I got lucky and found the factory power for cab lights ( black and yellow wire behind dash) so I got power from there and I ran the negative to my negative connector in cab.. I did not trust using the screw on roof as negative..

I wil try to get a pic today in daylight if I get home before it gets dark.

the one thing I found was the lights were tasty. i found if you move the LED light just a little they would turn off, it seems as if there connection inside bulb was not good.. I had to even redo one and solder in a new negative connection.. so I hope they keep working but time will tell.. I figure since our trucks ride so rough they will shake it loose quick if it is gonna shake loose.

That would be nice...

the next step is to put some red running lights under tailgate, so people can not miss me.. I like having running lights on truck especially when towing..

I also put all LED on my car trailer when I built that so no one can say I did nto see him..

I was debating about putting cab lights on my truck for a long time. I finally decided that my next first gen (if I get one) will have them Bruiser if you look in my gallery wer have the exact same truck

the next step is to put some red running lights under tailgate, so people can not miss me..
I am definatly getting some of those for my tailgate unless I find a 1ton tailgate. Looking good, great job

well the ones i installed where just, i believe made by pacer, and they have just a yellow lense and a chrome tail to them, and in my opinion they changed the whole look of the truck, and i wired them all my self and im just 16 so i think most of you out there can do it, just the worst think is the sound of drilling your cab, or the sound of a breaking bit, i thought i was going to be sick after that

Dang pretty sharp there Bruiser I have alway wondered how clear cab lights would look on a first gen They do look intimidating to install.

Holy Crap we do have the same truck

Gotta love black and the fog lights came with the truck from the original owner. They can really help at night

mine ground with a mount screw as I found when one was out and I'd scrambled up with a new bulb, ... I was working "hot" and when I started to unscrew it came on just like magic, ...whilst there I loosened and tightened all the screws and haven't had a problem for a year or so.

exactly why I ran a ground down to cab ground.. Since the lights were being a pain and flickering inside the bulb connections I wanted to rule out the ground situation..
