Had mine at 125mph with a GPS on the dash. My buddy in his done-up rice rocket couldnt believe it. He was doing just under 200kmph and couldnt catch my 1990 1 ton duallie. HEHEHE

My 93 with 3:54 gears falls flat on it's face at 80mph. I don't have the 3200 spring or any fuel pin mods other than having it rotated to the deepest stock point. Even with stock injectors I can roll the smoke with my fuel settings. My 12cm housing spins up pretty quick and keeps it cleared up pretty well unless I lug it.

I can hit 100+ in 4th. That would be 126+ in 5th.

You guys are crazy! Going over 80mph in a first gen is scary. Especially with a worn steering box, king pins, steering shaft, etc.

I used to make a 5 hour (one way) trip every weekend. It was usually 8-10pm before I got on the road, so most of the trip was late at night. There usually wasn't much traffic, just some trucks and an occasional car or two. Every once in a while a ricer would see the 8-foot long dyno-mite diesel performance stickers on my box and want to play. I would usually just spool up the compounds once and leave them alone. One night there was a car with annoyingly bright headlights hanging just behind me in the passing lane. They followed for a few miles, so I took it off cruise and slowed a few mph so they would pass. They just hung in the same spot. After a few more miles I got tired of the lights and decided to speed up a little. They jumped up beside me and started "playing." It was on at 75mph. I was pulling really hard away from him till a little over 100. Then he slowly started catching up. At 66psi boost, 1550*, and 3600 rpm I was done. He just drove by and kept going. It was a cadillac cts or whatever those things are. I've heard that they go around 150mph, I’d believe it. I think that my 3600rpm equated to 127-128mph. Never did that again. Cant imagine hitting a dear at that speed Kinda wish I hadn't sold that pickup.

There are a lot of deer on that route. Any near misses that night?
Here is the formula I use to determine rpms. The Getrag has 23% overdrive or .77 gear ratio. With 3.54 gears that equates to 2.73 overall (3.54 x .77). So 2.73 x mph x 366 divided by tire diameter = rpms. The 366 number always remains the same in the equation.
So you guys with 3.07s would have a 2.36 ratio with a Getrag.
For fun; a 235/85/16 is about the same height as a 265/75/16 (31").
If you have 4:10s and a Getrag 75 mph = 2800 rpm; 100 = 3720 rpm and 125 = 4650 rpm.
With 3.54s; 75 = 2220 rpm, 100 = 2960 rpm and 125 = 3700 rpm.
With 3.07s; 75 = 1920 rpm, 100 = 2560 rpm and 125 = 3200 rpm.
I do believe KTA has had his to 135+.

a 265/75 is actually around 32". When I did the math for the 32" vs 31, 3.07 gears at 125, it showed the rpms to be at 3374 i believe. With bigger tires, at the same speed, the rpms should be lower than the 3200. That and I dont think my truck (running 265s) is running 1920 at 75, though I have no tach to prove it. I believe you, just wondering if Im missing something here.

I think the truck is faster than I am smart!

with this web site (http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_speed_rpm.htm) I came to the conclusion that you were somewhere near 120 mph... but not sure of the gear ratio of 5th gear on your getrag tranny...
congrats

Well if I can get in, I may be running the texas mile Oct. 28-29. Its a mile track and 1/2 mile slow down on the end....Well see just how fast 3.07s and a getrag will go, I just need to get my 3200 ordered before then.

Bill, with your setup, you were doing 136.5 on the dyno.

KTA has 3.31s (Dana80), and he says he has seen 150 on the dyno.

Mathematically, my pickup, with a limit of 3300rpm will do about 115.

I have had mine up to 100+ a time or two. Gets a little light in the handling after that, esp on local roads. I imagine it'd be smooth on the KS turnpike or I-70 in eastern CO. I have done 85+ for short times (<10mi) in mine with no sweat- handles it better than Mom's 98 TownCar. I also dont need to lose my CDL, so 10 over is it now.

Daniel

My vibrations come in real bad at 72 but are almost gone at 87. I touched 90 once and that was at my top of 2400 rpm.

Mine is still at 35psi at 100 with the egt's heading to jupiter. I get the feeling it will go 110 or better, but i need to bolt on the water/meth to keep from liquifing the pistons.....

I'm with Dave I don't want to loose my CDL. 105mph with a Garmin GPS and on my speedometer before I backed out of it. I still had more pedal.
